The Dark Parasite

Something evil is spreading in the land. It wants to spread its rot to every Region in Lirennor. Unseen and without hesitation it is growing. You must stop it before it consumes what is left of Lirennor.


Story:

The Darkness within Veles was destroyed long ago with the defeat of the Dark Mages in AD2098, or so we thought. There are remnants of this evil still lurking within Veles kept at bay by the strength of the Kingdoms. But Lirennor was lost and the Darkness within is growing. The Regions of Lirennor are now at risk of infection from this spreading evil.

 

Objective:

  • Stop the spread of Darkness within the Regions of Lirennor.
  • If 4 tiles are on level 3 you will lose.

 

Requirements:

  • 2-6 players

 

Mechanics:

 

-- Set Up:

  • Place all the tiles on their good side.
  • Select any hero and their starting equipment, three scrolls and 5 coin each.
  • Start in any Inn.
  • Activate two Tavern Quests.

 

-- The Spread:

  • The Spread begins and continues depending on the number of players after a specific number of turns:
  • 2 Players: After 3 rounds start with one in Stonesea + Oldhedge, and another every 3 turns.
  • 3-4 Players: After 2 rounds start with both Rocks + Woodmist, and another every 2 turns.
  • 5-6 Players: After 1 round start with both Rock + both Woods, and another every turn.
  • For example if 2 players, you will place a one piece coin on both Stonesea and Oldhedge after the first 3 rounds, then another after a further 3 turns and every 3 turns after that.
  • On each of The Spread's turns you must place a coin on any tile with at least one coin. A max of three coins (levels). When a tile gets to level 3, turn the tile over to its Dark Side. 
  • If a tile is on level 3 then it will infect every, non infected, adjacent Region Tile (not towns) on The Spread's turn. Place one coin on each of those and continue with this pattern.
  • Each level a Region is on will result in further difficulty:
  • Level 1: Each enemy gains an extra 2 attack and 2 defense.
  • Level 2: Summoned creatures will have no effect on the enemies.
  • Level 3: Must defeat two enemies from this tile within three rounds to reduce its level by one.

 

-- Stopping The Spread:

  • You can reduce a tiles level by one by defeating an enemy of that tile (not Loot buildings).
  • If a tile has no levels it won't regain a level unless adjacent to a level 3 tile.
  • After all tiles have no level of Darkness in them you will have stopped the spread and won the game.

 

— Dying:

  • You must wait one round out of the game and then respawn in any Inn. 

 

Differences:

  • Optional: You can use another current health marker on the Health Board to track The Spread's turn.
  • You cannot form groups.
